Director Candidates

The following members have completed the necessary qualification questionnaire and submitted a timely petition signed by 15 Lake Country Power members to be considered a candidate for director of Lake Country Power.

George W. Harvey - District 3

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of my district for electing me over the years. I have been on the board for 17 plus years. Your patronage has been greatly appreciated. My wife Phyllis and I presently reside in Britt, Minnesota.

Currently I am the board secretary and have been for a number of years. I am also president of the Lake Country Power Holdings which oversees the operation of our two for-profit subsidiaries, Lake States Tree Service and Lake States Construction. These two subsidiaries have become immensely successful, returning back to Lake Country Power about a half a million dollars per year. I have completed my CCD (Certified Cooperative Director) and BLC (Board Leadership Certificate) to advance my co-op knowledge.

As your director, I will continue to actively work to have reliable electric power delivered at the lowest possible cost. These have always been my priorities along with maintaining a great relationship with the member owners. I would appreciate your support in the upcoming election, thank you.

Daniel Kingsley - District 6

Hello, I’m Dan Kingsley.

I am 63 years old, married to Barbara. We are residents of Hill City and have lived in the Hill City area with my family since 1978.

I am now retired after working more than 40 years as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49. During this time, I served 15 years on the Hill City School Board and on the Union Executive Board, and Board of Trustees.

I continue to serve my community as a member of the Hill City Fire Department, Lions Club, Haypoint Snowmobile Club, and as Mayor of Hill City.

I have spent the last three years as your Region 6 representative for LCP. This time has been enjoyable and rewarding, working with the other 8 region directors and leaders of LCP. I have recently completed the Board required 5 education credits gaining my Credentialed Co-op Director (CCD) Certificate.

If re-elected as Director of Region 6, I will continue to do my best to represent you, the member, as your voice in my role as Region 6 Director.

Donald C. Simons - District 6

I am a farmer in Splithand Township, and I would like to be your sixth district director for the upcoming term. As a lifelong resident of Itasca County, and based on present and past leadership skills, as well as my continuing efforts for the betterment of our rural areas, I feel I would be an asset in representing the members of Lake Country Power once more.

Experience:

  1. Board of managers of the Minnesota State Fair for 15 years, retiring as president in January 2001.

  2. I have been a director and president of the Itasca County Fair Board.

  3. I served 28 years as supervisor/treasurer of the Itasca Soil and Water Board.

  4. I serve on the board of Itasca Mutual Insurance.

  5. I served 11 years in the Army.

  6. Worked as a deputy in the Itasca County Sherriff’s Department.

Having served the co-op for 18 years in the past, my goals remain to continue to deliver reliable electricity at an economical rate, and to give capital credits to the members annually.
