Remaining outages nearing restoration

Grand Rapids, MN – Lake Country Power crews have worked many long, hard hours since Tuesday evening’s severe thunderstorm hit, knocking out electric service for more than 7,000 members.
Crews are currently working to restore power that serves two different islands on Lake Vermilion where they can only access the points by boat across water. Fewer than 80 members remain without power on the islands, as of 4:00 p.m.
Lake Country Power anticipates the remaining storm-related outages will be restored by late afternoon or this evening.
