Rachel’s Challenge coming to The Range

Grand Rapids, MN – Each day 160,000 students do not go to school because they are bullied, teased and harassed. As part of its commitment to community, Lake Country Power will be sponsoring a challenging and powerful message of kindness and compassion for students at the Virginia High School and East Range Academy.

Since 2010, Lake Country Power has sponsored Rachel's Challenge for 15 local schools.     

LCP appoints Cooper, DiIorio and Jensen as apprentice lineworkers

Grand Rapids, MN – Lake Country Power recently appointed three individuals as apprentice lineworkers – Dan Cooper of Saginaw, Zach DiIorio of Nashwauk and Derek Jensen of Baxter.

Cooper will report to the co-op’s McGregor Outpost, DiIorio will work from the Remer Outpost and Jensen will report from the Ely Outpost. 

They will assist lineworkers in the construction and maintenance of Lake Country Power’s electric distribution system while training to become journeyman lineworkers.

Storm hits Grand Rapids and Kettle River

Grand Rapids, MN – Thursday morning’s fast moving thunderstorm affected electric service for more than 1,200 Lake Country Power members. Since early morning, crews have repaired service for more than 570 members. Those affected are primarily in the cooperative’s Grand Rapids and Kettle River service areas. 

Lake Country Power line crews will be working today to restore service. Two LCP line crews from Mountain Iron are assisting crews in the Grand Rapids area where most outages exist.

Operation Round Up® gives more than $39,000

Grand Rapids, MN – Through the assistance of Lake Country Power's participating members, the Operation Round Up® Trust Board recently approved $39,700 in contributions to local community programs during its quarterly meeting.

The cooperative’s Trust Board reviewed and considered 59 grant applications and distributed funds to more than 40 projects and programs this past quarter. Since the program’s inception in October 2004, more than $1.9 million has been distributed to more than 1,700 community-based projects and programs.

Pole testing being conducted

Grand Rapids, MN – In the interest of public safety and service reliability, Lake Country Power has hired Osmose Utilities Services Inc., to test the cooperative’s poles in central parts of its distribution system. The testing started May 17 and will go into October.

That’s the message Lake Country Power shared with nearly 400 members and guests at its annual meeting Wednesday, April 19, in Grand Rapids, Minn.

Operation Round Up® gives more than $45,000 to community programs

Grand Rapids, MN – Through the assistance of Lake Country Power's participating members, the Operation Round Up® Trust Board recently approved $45,130 in contributions to local community programs during its quarterly meeting.

The cooperative’s Trust Board reviewed and considered 59 grant applications and distributed funds to 50 projects and programs this past quarter. Since the program’s inception in October 2004, more than $1.8 million has been distributed to more than 1,500 community-based projects and programs.
