Power restoration progress continues; hundreds of pole changeouts underway

Grand Rapids, MN – The buzz of chain saws can still be heard throughout the region as recovery efforts continue in the wake of Thursday’s massive thunderstorm. Lake Country Power reports less than 4,000 members remain without electricity this afternoon—down from 27,000 outages called in after the storm blew through early Thursday morning.

Small Army on the move for Lake Country Power members

Grand Rapids, MN – A small army of linemen and field crews is making progress restoring electricity for Lake Country Power members. Co-op line crews were called in around 3:00 a.m. Thursday as a result of 27,000 outages caused by a thunderstorm with hurricane-like impact. By 4:00 p.m. today (Friday) power has been restored to nearly 15,000 LCP consumers.

LCP line crews nearing home stretch in outage restoration

Grand Rapids, MN – Working around the clock since Sunday evening, Lake Country Power line crews have restored electric service for more than 4,700 members. They’ve repaired more than 80 different outages.

Currently there are less than 300 members without power and 30 different outages to repair. The remaining outages are primarily near Kettle River, Cromwell, Moose Lake, Sturgeon Lake and Round Lake.
