Grand Rapids, MN – Wednesday’s snow storm is affecting electric service for more than 2,000 Lake Country Power members. Line crews worked through last night, and are currently working to restore service at nearly 115 various outage points. Those affected are primarily in the southern part of the cooperative’s service area, from McGregor east to north of Duluth.

The storm brought up to nine inches of heavy, wet snow, including strong east winds. Snow is hanging on trees, which is causing line contact. Temperatures are expected to warm to 50 degrees today, which should help, but it’s slick, soft and wet for line crews.

In some areas, lines are down on the ground. If people see a line down, do not go near it because it may be energized. Please stay clear and allow lineworkers to make repairs.

Also assisting in the restoration efforts are LCP’s line crews from the co-op’s service centers in Mountain Iron and Grand Rapids. Crews will work to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
