Grand Rapids, MN – Lake Country Power crews are making progress to restore service after Wednesday’s snow storm affected electric service for more than 2,000 Lake Country Power members. Roughly 400 members are without power, as crews continue to work as safely and quickly as possible.

Those affected reside in the southern part of Lake Country Power’s service area, including locations near Cromwell, Sawyer, Saginaw, Kettle River, McGregor to Savanna State Park, Tamarack, Cloquet and Fish Lake.

Line crews from the co-op’s service centers in Kettle River, Grand Rapids and Mountain Iron are all working to restore power, including Lake States Construction. Several outages will go through this evening, with a few individual outages expected to go into Friday morning.

Crews are restringing lines that came down in the storm that brought up to nine inches of heavy, wet snow, including strong winds. The ground is wet and soft for heavy equipment to travel on roadways and remote areas.

Anyone who sees a downed powerline should stay clear for safety reasons as the line may still be energized. Please allow lineworkers to assess the situation and make these repairs as they are able.
