State Sen. Tom Bakk (Senate District 3) was awarded the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Energy Award on September 1, at Lake Country Power's Mountain Iron service center.

The Independent senator from Cook was first elected to the Minnesota Legislature in the House in 1994 before moving to the Senate in 2002, where he has served Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis counties. Bakk served in Senate leadership from 2010-2019 as both the Majority Leader and Minority Leader of the DFL caucus. During the latest legislative session, he was appointed as chairman of the Capital Investment Committee.
